We Need Your Help!

March 24, 2011

Besides Maui Tropical Soaps‘ current ‘Give One, Get One’ program, we would like to initiate a new program in about a month for soldiers specifically in Afghanistan. These heros work round the clock for us and for our freedom and we need to remind them that we are grateful and appreciative of all that they do. We would like to create a program similar to the current one we are implementing for the Japanese survivor victims. Please give us your feedback, if you have any program name suggestions please send them our way, we are always grateful for your thoughts and ideas!

The Road to Hana

March 17, 2011

If you ever get the chance to visit Maui, you must visit the town of Hana. More amazing and more spectacular than the town itself is the drive. It is a 52 mile drive from Kahului  but can take several hours to drive due to the 600 road curves and 54 narrow one-lane bridges. However, it is worth the slow drive through rainforest, waterfalls, coastline and overall scenic beauty.

When you arrive in Hana, be sure to check out the black sandy beach of Waianapanapa State Park, or the red sandy beach of Kahalulu.  There are also temples, waterfalls, hiking trips, snorkeling and gardens to enjoy while you are there!

Can’t visit Hana? Maui Tropical Soaps delivers the smells of Hawaii to your door!

Want To Help?

March 14, 2011

700 people are dead after the earthquake/tsunami that hit Japan. While no deaths have been reported in Hawaii, it too is still recovering from the disaster. If you have been wondering how you might be able to help, you have a couple options. The first would be to donate to the American Red Cross. The second would be to donate to the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California. Both of the options provide food, water and clothing directly to victims. For more information on donating or other assistance options, please visit www.redcross.org or www.jcccnc.org.

The Scent of Hawaii

February 21, 2011

Did you know that scent is the strongest sense tied to memory? So it’s not surprising that most people never forget the scent of Hawaii. Most of what makes the scent of Hawaii so memorable is the flowers, and today we are going go through six flowers that collaborate in making Hawaii smell so beautiful and unforgettable.

Birds of Paradise is very dramatic orange or blue flower that resembles an exotic bird. This flower does well in a pot, and is therefore a great houseplant.

The Orchid has 22,000 species, with only a few being native to Hawaii. Orchid’s are used for special occasions, and are a tropical looking flower.

Anthuriums is a poisonous plant that can even cause skin irritation from brushing up against it. What most people assume as the flower is actually a red heart shaped leaf. This plant has also been called the Flamingo Flower.

The Plumeria is probably the most famous Hawaiian flower because it is used in the Hawaiian lei. They have a wonderful fragrant smell, and they last several days after they have been cut.

Ginger is an extremely vibrant flower. It is very oriental in appearance and has somewhat of a pineapple shape to it.

If you don’t live in Hawaii, Maui Tropical Soaps can always deliver the scent of Hawaii to you. All of our soaps contain Hawaii’s finest scents, and each will bring you to Hawaii the minute you use them!
